- The Apple iPhone X is one of the most groundbreaking launches from Apple as far as both technology and design are concerned
- Each and every department is richly fed with the most that you could get
- And since the new iPhone X loses the home button and the fingerprint scanner on it, the FaceID is what replaces it, big time
The iPhone X is a 7.7mm slim phone with glass on both front and rear and a metallic side frame sandwiched in the middle. The phone has dual cameras on the rear supported by Apples ARKit (which is supposed to be a big boost for Augmented Reality), and on the front, it’s mostly display.
This is the first time ever that Apple is using an OLED panel. The iPhone X display is a 5.8-inch screen (With 3D touch, Dolby Vision, 625 Nits bright) that fills the entire fascia, save for a notch on top that houses the new Depth camera setup that’s also used for the Face ID secure unlock. A thin black border runs along the display on all sides. Since there is no home button on the front, you will have to navigate through iPhone X using gestures.
Using a dot projector and IR laser, the depth camera can map your face using 30,000 invisible dots. You can use it to unlock your phone securely and conveniently with a simple glance.
The depth camera module also includes the 7MP camera for selfies. Apple also uses the depth map and selfie camera for Animojis or animated emojis tunned in line with your facial muscles.
As for iPhone X Rear camera performance, both the 12MP sensors benefit from optical image stabilization. You can use the setup for 2X lossless zoom or for Portrait shots (with blurred background). Apple has also added a unique Portrait lighting feature that can be used to add studio lighting effects on clicked images.
